MD Helicopters, Inc. Delivers Three MD Explorers at Heli-Expo
02/22/2009

Lynn Tilton, CEO of MD Helicopters, will deliver keys to United Aviation of the United Arab Emirates, Fuchs Helicopter of Switzerland and CASA Air of Denmark, respectively. All three have purchased new twin engine MD 902 Explorers.

United Aviation will use their new MD Explorer, based in Kuwait, for a variety of applications including Emergency Medical Services, Search and Rescue, cross country transport and pilot training. United Aviation’s core business is private air travel. The company was established in March 2003, and by March 2004 United Aviation was the first private jet charter company to receive the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the Kuwait Directorate General of Civil Aviation.

When General Dr. Mahmoud G. Razouki, Executive VP – Helicopter Division, was asked why the company selected MD 902 Explorer, he said, "We chose the MD Explorer after an intensive study of the market and detailed meetings and discussions with the relevant companies and manufacturers. From the comparison studies it is evident that the MD 902 Explorer is the most viable option when it comes to the mission capabilities and price. An additional factor was the suitable delivery time compared to the rest of the manufacturers."

Fuchs Helicopter was founded in 1974 as a flight school with theoretical and practical training for helicopter PPL & CPL licenses, MOU (mountain) & NIT (night) extensions and type ratings on MD helicopters. Fuchs also does professional aerial filming in Europe for TV news, sports events, and movies, and provides sightseeing trips above the Swill Alps as well as transport services. Their new MD 902 Explorer will be based at their headquarters in Schindellegi (Swiss heliport, ICAO code LSXS) about 15 flight minutes from Zurich airport.

"We chose the MD902 Explorer because of its fantastic performance and the space it provides for baggage and equipment," said Dino Janser from Fuchs. "We believe it represents the best twin-engine product for our employments."

Fuchs will use the MD 902 for aerial filming above the European terrain since a twin engine helicopter is needed by law for low level flights above most cities. The MD902 with its NOTAR® system is also a quiet performer.

CASA Air A/S is based in Odense N, Denmark and provides service for Scandinavia, Greenland, Faroe Islands, Iceland and the Baltic Region. It offers flight training including private pilot license, commercial pilot license, type ratings, flight instructor (Helicopter) and instrument rating (Helicopter) multiengine and charter services as well.

CASA Air is an approved MD Helicopters representative and partners with Scandinavian Helicopters which provides MD Helicopters service.

When discussing their new MD 902 Explorer, CEO Jens Houmøller said, "First we are very excited about our new aircraft which we believe is one of the finest on the market, and second we are excited about the opportunity we have gotten from MD Helicopters, to be their representative in Scandinavia and the Baltic region. We are looking forward to promoting the qualities of MD Helicopters in our market."
